Recommendations for Successful Fabrication
Suggested Fabrication Methods
The following methods are recommended when performed correctly:
✅ Cutting Methods
Flame/torch cutting
Laser cutting
Plasma cutting
Water-jet cutting
✅ Forming & Welding
Welding
Air bending with internal angles of 75°-90° and a minimum bend radius of ¾”
For air bending, standard industry practices should be followed based on the material’s thickness and alloy type.
Fabrication Cautions
The following fabrication techniques are not recommended:
❌ Shearing
❌ Hole punching
❌ Saw cutting
❌ Other edge-related cutting methods
❌ Bends with a radius tighter than ¾”
Ramcoat’s surface hardness can dull tooling used in these methods. Using dull punches or shears can cause product flaking at impact points.
Additionally, bending Ramcoat-coated materials beyond a ¾” radius increases the risk of surface cracking or delamination. While Ramcoat products can be formed into tighter angles and smaller radii, these modifications are done at your own risk.
For additional details or fabrication best practices, contact a Ramcoat representative.
⚠ Note on Non-Steel Surfaces
Non-steel Ramcoat surfaces should be protected from steel tooling contact to prevent contamination and rust lines from forming over time.
Forming aluminum Ramcoat will compress the textured surface at the bottom-die contact points, creating a bare material line at those intersections. However, this will not impact the overall slip-resistant performance of the remaining surface.
